Reasons To Choose An Active Adult Communiity
Every year people in the United States and sometimes from other countries make the choice to spend their retirement years in Florida. Their professions and cultural backgrounds are varied. Often this is the last move that they intend to make while living independently. Active adult or over 55 communities provide a great choice for many. Here are some of the reasons:
Friends are easily made. Often these communities are new and everyone is moving in at the same time and have the same anxieties about the big move. It’s an environment much like the freshman year of college when one is faced with leaving all that is known previously to embrace a new experience.
Amenities abound. Many of the newer communities have very nice clubhouses with community pools, exercise equipment, clubs, both small group and large group activities, tennis and pickle ball courts, bocce ball, golf courses and on and on.
New homes equate to less maintenance. Aside from many normal offerings such as lawn maintenance, scheduled house painting and care of common areas, newer homes are generally more energy efficient. New appliances provide peace of mind and a lower operating cost for many years.
Many are gated. Gated communities provide a sense of security particularly since many of the owners moving in are new to the area and not yet comfortable with their surroundings.Gated communities usually equal less traffic and noise
Stable communities. Although some communities allow rentals/leases, generally the contract time is longer (6 months-1 year). Property owners tend to display more pride in ownership and HOAs control bad actors.
Kids just visit. Active adult communities are normally designed as age restricted communities.
These are just a few good reasons for choosing Active adult age restricted communities when moving into the area to retire. I’ll cover some of the reasons that could cause some folks to choose another kind of neighborhood in my next post.
