As Davenport expands and grows residents learned through the city's budget process, the city's financial health looks promising going into fiscal year 2018 as a result of a 2.4 percent increase in the tax base. More homes and townhouses have been getting built in order to keep up with the demand of new home buyers!

Unlike last year, when the tax base grew only half a percentage point, the city did not have to make cuts and could focus more on the priorities that residents defined in the community survey.Highlighted the $18 million in street investment and $124 million in street and sewer improvements through 2023 as an example of the government responding to resident's concerns.

Construction of the new Kraft Heinz plant at the industrial center has brought in $4.7 million in grants, and West 76th Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway received $3 million and $2.9 million, respectively, in additional funding.

While the city has maintained a commitment to improving its city services, Klipsch said the attraction and retention of businesses also was a concern raised by the community that has been met.
