Sales Agent Or Marriage Counselor

I am sure many Agents have had this happen to them when showing couples property listings.

One of them will like the property and the other doesn't even want to see the rest of the home after seeing something about the home they didn't like.

A recent survey of couples performed by LendingHome showed that Agents have reported that  60 percent of millennial and Gen X couples said they disagreed occasionally, frequently, or "a lot" when buying a house with their partner or spouse.

The survey by LendingHome contacted 514 adults ages 25 to 45 who were in a relationship (engaged, married or domestic partnerships) and purchased a home within the past year.

Couples who had been together a longer time tended to be more harmonious in the home-buying process. Those who had been together five or more years disagreed frequently only 14 percent of the time. On the other hand, couples who had been together for four years or less disagreed twice as much, with nearly 30 percent disagreeing frequently or more often.

Their top disagreements were:

  • Level of debt to take on (49 percent

  • Style of home to purchase (46 percent)

  • Size of house (45 percent)

  • Whether or not to buy a house in need of renovation (43 percent

The survey also states that some of the disagreements are based on gender. But luckily the survey found out that the majority of the couples leave behind their disagreements after the purchase of the home.

So just use your best smile and counseling skills to get them through the moment.
