Buying a home is one of the most important purchases you will make in your lifetime, so you should be sure that the home you want to buy is in good condition. A home inpsection is an evaluation by a trained expert not to be confused with an appraisal, a building code inspection, a guarantee of any kind, and/or an insurance policy on the condition of the property.

The inspector will review the readily accessible exposed portions of the structure of the home, including the roof, attic, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, foundations, as well as the heating/air conditioning systems, interior plumbing and electrical systems for potential problems. Home Inspectors are not intended to point out every small problem or latent defect in a home. Most minor or cosemetic flaw, for example, should be apparent to the buyer without the aid of a professional.

Here are a few questions to Ask Your Home Inspector?

  1. What does your inspection cover?

  2. How long have you been practising in the home inspection profession?

  3. Will I be able to attend the inspection?

  4. Are you specifically experienced in residential inspection?

  5. How much will it cost?

  6. How long will the inspection take?

  7. What type of inspection report do you provide and how long will it take to receive the report?
