How Locals Enjoy Disney Food

Most people are aware of the common reasons why Florida is such a wonderful place to reside and vacation. For those lucky enough to live here can even have a stay-cation. What are some of the unknown smaller reasons the enjoy a Floridian lifestyle? I moved down here about 3 years ago and have found small treasures on a tankful all around me. I will start with the obvious and then dive into the little things I found later.

Disney World. Almost everyone in the world knows and loves the Walt Disney World Company. The reasons could be endless. The rides, the castle, the characters, and the all around magic. There are hidden gems in the parks and resorts that took me a long time to realize were available. Caution, Disney is forever evolving and I cannot promise that the advice I give you will always hold true. With that being said lets start with food.

There is a huge selection of places to eat and grab a snack. For die hard foodies you will want to come for the Food and Wine Festival and sample things from all over the world. If you are a Floridian you might want to go when the parks are less busy to grab a more simple snack. For example one of my favorite snacks in Magic Kingdom is a cream cheese stuffed pretzel dusted with cinnamon sugar. It is very sweet so I would not suggest getting an icee with is but it can really hit the spot. The other favorite snack over at the Kingdom is Dole Whip. This is a fan favorite and a must have. It is a frozen pineapple or orange treat and you can order it as a float in pineapple juice. Yum! This great treat is also available at the Polynesian Resort.

Speaking of the Polynesian, from there beach is one of the best places to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Epcot also has a hidden gem in the Canada Area of the park. The quick favorite is the cronut. It is a sugary croissant doughnut. I do not think I really have to describe how tasty it is when it is a little chilly and you are waiting on the fireworks. If you have a little more than average budget for eating the steak with truffle sauce at the fancy restaurant there in Canada. I get it every year at the food and wine festival because the portions are smaller and more affordable.

One of the best comfort food locations is hidden inside Disney's Fort Wilderness. The Hoop Dee Doo Review is tucked in the back inside Pioneer Hall. You will almost always need a reservation. It is a little pricey about $70 per adult. This price will include all you can eat, drink, and the tip. The food is more American. The best fried chicken, ribs, corn, mashed potatoes, beans, cornbread, and strawberry shortcake. Everything is made from scratch in the kitchen everyday. The drink menu includes wine, beer, sangria, and soft drinks. The meal is accompanied with a slap stick musical comedy that is sure to make the whole family laugh. This is actually the longest running dinner show in the world at 41 years (you can check the Guinness book of world records). They also offer buses to take you back to your resort without transferring after the 6:15 and 8:30 shows.

I know this is just a short list of my favorites but I will be sure to post more. Thank you for reading, I hope you have a magical day.
